What exactly do we mean by reliable saddle bags?

Quite simply easy to use, secure and strong enough withstand the elements of riding, be it for a weekend or cross continental trips.

How is this achieved?

5 Layer construction:

• An outer, replaceable wrap around shell constructed from 1680 D ballistics nylon and 600 D Tarpaulin. Should you have a very hard fall the outer shell protects the main pannier and can replaced, to keep your panniers looking new.

This replaceable outer is unique to the Desert Fox Sahara range of panniers.

• A pannier constructed from 1680 D ballistics nylon and 600 D Tarpaulin-  this pannier is still fully functional without the wrap around shell i.e.  in the event of the wrap around shell being severely damaged the pannier can still function .
• A removable 500 D 100% waterproof inner bag- Simply remove the inner bag at your destination.

Ballistic nylon refers to a very specific type of nylon fabric that has been engineered for unrivalled abrasion & tear resistance. In fact, its original intended purpose was for the protection of aircraft personnel to protect them from shrapnel and other debris that were the result of gunfire, artillery shell explosions, and      other ballistic impacts (hence the name)

• 6061-T6 heavy duty aluminium buckles in all high impact areas. Unlike plastic buckles, these buckles will not sheer in the event of a fall.
• Inside the panniers are removable ABS stiffeners, which help keep  contents evenly compressed while also protecting the bags from any sharp objects.
• Stress points are box stitched AND quad stitched which is unique to the Sahara pannier set.

Easy to Use:

• Classic throw over the seat design makes them simple to mount on just about any bike.
• A roll-top design allows the capacity to vary according to your needs.
• Semi-structured box shape helps the panniers keep their shape, for easy loading.
• External pockets front & back- enables quick access to rainsuits, water bottles etc. No need to purchase additional pockets. If not required they can simply cinch flat. Outer pockets also have additional dust proof protection i.e., no zips that can fail.
• Provision for strapping additional items on top of panniers such as camping chairs, stretchers, sleeping bags and fuel cells.

Security:

• Supplied with heavy duty, adjustable 8 mm thick cable locks that allow for locking of the panniers to the bike.
• Panniers can be cinched flat against to pannier frames for use in urban settings e.g., Lane splitting.
• 4 cinch straps per pannier allows for maximum pannier compression when riding off road.
• Removable tool holders in the bottom of each pannier- simply remove the inner bag and access the tool holders for quick road side repairs.
• Roll up strap holders keep straps from flapping.
• Easily repairable with a needle and thread, if far from civilization.

• 38 L capacity each side – 72 L in total.

• Strong broad seat straps will not cut into the seat & are adjustable in width to accommodate various seat sizes.
• Simple effective roll top design- 6 integrated compression straps keep the panniers & contents compact ( per pannier : 2 top & 4 on sides ).
• Removable stiffening panels help the bags keep their shape.
• Easy to pack with wide top opening.
• Per pannier 4 x steel D-rings, Daisy chains & 2 x aluminium buckles for additional fastening of items on top of panniers e.g.,  fuel cells, camping chairs, stretchers & tents.
• 600 D Waterproof panels between the pannier and outer shell for wet items such as tents & ground sheets.
